FAQs

Do I need to have experience with horses?

No, no experience with horses is necessary. This training is great whether or not you have ever been near a horse. The learning is about yourself, not about horses, they are here to help you learn about you.

Will we be riding?

Occasionally, mounted exercises may become part of a specific program but in general, the programs centre upon ground exercises.

What if I someone is afraid of horses?

Fear is something which is present in life, often it is not dealt with. At times, the opportunity to work with fear and anxiety within sessions proves very useful. Whilst we support people to move out of their comfort zone into their “learning zone” we are careful to ensure that their emotional and physical safety is maintained.

Is it safe?

Our horse partners are carefully selected, and undergo a conditioning training to help ensure the safety of all participants. Still, horses are large animals, so caution is always a priority with us. We provide and insist upon adherence to safety guidelines that are given during your sessions.

Where are the sessions conducted?

Our sessions are conducted at a registered riding center which is fully insured.

What do I wear for an event?

Events are mostly outdoors although facilitation takes place indoors. Please dress appropriately for the season. Long trousers (jeans) are recommended, and sturdy boots or shoes are essential. Please avoid open toed shoes and high heels. In the summer please bring sun screen and a hat!

Can working with horses be combined with classroom based development programmes?

Yes, absolutely. Combining horse assisted development with other development techniques is very effective. At Insight we have experience in “indoor” development programmes and can design and facilitate these for you or work with other suppliers to create a bespoke solution which meets your needs.
